Brazil nuts are a great source of Selenium, which is essential for healthy brain function.
The Brazil Nut comes from the Bertholletia Excelsa tree, which is found throughout the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon stretches across Northwest Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Brazil Nuts have been enjoyed by the native people of these regions for at least 10,000 years. Natural Pollination of the Brazil Nut is only possible with one insect, the Orchid bee. Orchid bees are the only insect strong enough to open the flower’s shell to access the nectar within.
